Every Alcatel-Lucent system and handset we work on
Search for whatever is written on the box or the handset — if it is listed here, we service it.
Current systems
Still sold and supported. Most Gold Coast Alcatel sites run one of these.
Legacy systems — still serviced
Earlier platforms. If yours is here, it very likely does not need replacing yet.
Current handsets — Myriad & Premium DeskPhone
The current desk range.
Legacy handsets — IP Touch & Reflexes
Older sets, widely still in service. We source replacements where we can.
DECT and wireless
Cordless handsets and base stations.
The work people call about
Adds, moves and changes
New starters, departures, desk swaps, extension reassignments. The everyday work that becomes impossible when nobody will attend.
Call flows and after-hours
Ring order, hunt groups, overflow, holiday messages and the after-hours greeting nobody can work out how to change.
Voicemail and auto-attendant
Menu programming, recorded announcements, mailbox resets, and voicemail-to-email where the platform supports it.
Faults, handsets and parts
Diagnosis, card and handset replacement, and sourcing parts for platforms no longer sold new. Tell us the model and we'll tell you honestly what's obtainable.
Should you replace it?
Alcatel-Lucent is less common on the Gold Coast than Panasonic or NEC, which is exactly why finding anyone willing to touch one is difficult. We do.
Our position: if the platform still does what your business needs and parts are obtainable, keeping it is usually cheaper and we will say so. Replacement becomes right when hardware is failing, when you need staff working from home, when you are opening a second site, or when parts genuinely run out.
Where the system supports SIP trunks, connecting it to them often defers replacement by years while cutting call costs. When the time does come, moving to cloud VoIP becomes a planned capital decision rather than a forced one — and we test whether your internet is actually ready before recommending it.
The Alcatel-Lucent problems we are actually called to
Six situations. The most common is not a fault but an absence of anyone to call.
“Nobody local will support it”
Usually a platform more often found in larger sites and hospitality than in small offices, so fewer providers on the Gold Coast have worked on one.
What we do We do support these. A capable system with no local support is a commercial problem rather than a technical one, and it does not by itself justify replacing working equipment.
“We’ve shrunk and the system is sized for the old business”
Usually a platform specified for a larger headcount or a larger tenancy. It still works and the business is carrying capacity and maintenance it no longer needs.
What we do Establish what the system costs to keep against what it would cost to move. Occasionally the right answer is to keep it and reduce what is licensed; occasionally it is genuinely time to move, and it is worth having both numbers.
“Room or guest features stopped after a change to another system”
Usually an integration between the phone system and something else — a property management system, a booking platform, a billing package — broken by an upgrade at the other end.
What we do Check the integration rather than the phone system. These connections fail silently and the symptom always appears on the phone side, which is where everyone looks first.
“Calls over the SIP trunk sound poor while internal calls are fine”
Usually the path out to the provider, not the system. Internal calls never leave the building and are unaffected by whatever is happening on the connection.
What we do That split is diagnostic on its own. Prioritise voice traffic on the way out and measure the connection for consistency rather than speed, which is what a call actually depends on.
“We can’t find anyone who knows the programming”
Usually specialist knowledge that has become scarce as the installed base ages and the people who worked on these systems move on.
What we do Get the configuration documented while the system is still running. The worst moment to discover nothing is written down is after a failure, and extracting it beforehand costs a fraction of reconstructing it afterwards.
“We’re mid-lease and cannot replace it”
Usually a finance agreement with time left to run. It constrains the options and does not remove them.
What we do Work within the constraint. Adding cloud extensions alongside an existing system, or improving what is there, is frequently possible without breaking an agreement — and knowing the lease end date lets the replacement be planned properly.
What Alcatel-Lucent work actually looks like
Representative engagements, drawn from real work with identifying detail removed — we don’t name clients without written permission.
A capable system nobody would touch
The situation
A business had a functioning platform and could not find anyone willing to work on it. Three providers had quoted only for replacement, and one had declined to attend at all. The system itself had no reported faults.
What we found
The platform was in good order and appropriately sized for the business. The obstacle was availability of people who had worked on that family of systems, which had become genuinely scarce. Nothing needed fixing — the business simply had no route to make ordinary changes, which had made an asset feel like a liability.
What we did
Documented the configuration and numbering plan, made the outstanding changes that had accumulated, and put a support arrangement in place so ordinary requests have somewhere to go.
The outcome
The business kept the system. It will be replaced when there is a reason beyond the difficulty of finding someone to answer the phone, and that decision now sits with the business.
Guest features that stopped when something else was upgraded
The situation
An accommodation business found that room telephone features stopped working correctly after an unrelated system was upgraded. Calls still connected, and the functions tied to rooms did not behave.
What we found
The phone system integrated with the property management system, and the upgrade at the other end had changed how the two authenticated. The phone system continued to operate normally in every other respect, which is why it had been examined repeatedly and cleared. The integration had been in place for years and appeared in no documentation.
What we did
Restored the connection on the current method, then recorded every integration the phone system participates in and set monitoring so a broken link is reported rather than discovered at the front desk.
The outcome
Room features work again. The phone system had never been at fault, and it had absorbed a week of investigation because it was the place the symptom appeared.
Questions Gold Coast businesses ask us
Who services Alcatel-Lucent phone systems on the Gold Coast?
bcom ICT supplies, installs, programmes and repairs Alcatel-Lucent PBX systems across the Gold Coast, covering OXO Connect, OmniPCX Office and OmniPCX Enterprise, plus the current and legacy handset ranges. That includes extension changes, call flow and hunt group programming, voicemail and auto-attendant configuration, fault diagnosis and parts sourcing. Call 07 3041 8993.
Do you support older Alcatel-Lucent systems, not just current models?
Yes — the legacy platforms are a large part of what we do. As providers move to cloud-only, plenty of Gold Coast businesses are left with a working system and nobody willing to attend. If your model is listed on this page, we service it.
Our provider says it has to be replaced. Is that true?
Sometimes, but frequently it reflects who is available rather than the system's condition. If the platform still does what your business needs and parts are obtainable, keeping it is often the cheaper answer. We'll assess remaining life honestly before you commit to a replacement quote.
Can you just make one change without an ongoing contract?
Yes. Plenty of clients call for a one-off — an extension, a call flow, an after-hours message — at $198 + GST per hour plus a $100 + GST call-out for on-site attendance. There's no requirement to sign up to anything ongoing.
Can you still get parts and handsets?
For most Alcatel-Lucent platforms listed here, yes — new, refurbished or from stock. Tell us the exact model and we'll tell you honestly what's obtainable and what isn't. Where a part genuinely can't be sourced, that's the point at which replacement stops being optional and becomes a planning exercise.
Can it connect to SIP trunks?
Where the platform and card configuration support it, yes — and it often defers a full replacement by years while reducing call costs. We'll tell you whether your specific model can do it before quoting anything.
Can you move it to a new office?
Yes. PBX relocation, recabling and number porting are handled as part of an office IT relocation, planned around your move date rather than attempted on the day.
Got a Alcatel-Lucent system nobody will touch?
Tell us the model number. If it's on the list above, you probably don't need the replacement you've been quoted.
